If you didn't follow the steps above before selling or giving away your iOS device:
Ask the new owner to erase all content and settings as described above.

Since you don't want whomever gets your phone to have access to your personal data you'll need to wipe the phone clean of all of your personal data. Follow these instructions to clear the data off of your phone.
1. Tap the settings (gear icon) from the home screen (or whatever page it happens to be located on your iPhone).
2. Tap the "General" settings menu item.
3. Choose the "Reset" menu item.
4. Tap on the "Erase All Content and Settings" menu item.

1.Back up your iPhone.

7.Restore to factory settings. Open the Settings app > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
8.Unregister your device at supportprofile.apple.com.
